A manhunt is underway by the US Marshals Services and other law enforcement agencies as they attempt to locate McGrath, 53, the former governor’s top aide, after he failed to make a scheduled court appearance on Monday, March 13.
This week, officials announced that a reward is being offered by the US Marshals and FBI, to be paid separately, as they attempt to persecute the former top aide to Hogan's administration.
In October 2021, a federal grand jury in Maryland returned a multi-count indictment charging McGrath with wire fraud and other charges, which were later upgraded in June 2022 to include additional offenses.
It is alleged that McGrath further falsified records, and on Monday, March 13, he skipped out on his scheduled court appearance and a new arrest warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to appear.
McGrath is now wanted for:
- Fraud;
- Theft in programs receiving federal funds;
- Falsification of records in federal investigations;
- Converting to own use property of another;
- Failure to appear;
- Related charges.
He previously pleaded not guilty to the charges. He resigned shortly into his tenure under the former governor after news of his alleged fraud was made public.
McGrath was described as being 5-foot-4 weighing approximately 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. His whereabouts are unknown, and he has been described as being a flight risk by investigators.
